Abstract
Abstract art is art that looks at an everyday object from a different and unusual perspective. Abstract art started in the late 19th century and reflects the social media of the time. Abstract is different from reality and not of the ordinary. It is from the imaginary mind, created from something else. Abstract photography is when you take a picture of something normal from really close or a different angle. Most abstract photos are very unusual and have more concentration on the color and texture. There is no standard abstract photo, they are all different in their own individual way.

Surrealism
Surrealism is a movement that involves dream-like ideas and concepts in a unique, obscure image. Surrealism is a very creative way of artwork and can be created just by putting two or three different images together.
Surrealism began in the 1920’s in artwork and writing. Surrealism is when different images or concepts are put together that wouldn’t normally be put together, unexpected juxtapositions. It allows for a very odd and somewhat confusing effect on the end result. When surrealism was just being introduced it was shown most through paintings. Painters could take whatever they wanted and put it next to something that was not related to that at all. Surrealism photography wasn’t around because back then they did not have the technology to bring multiple pictures into one. In the 1930’s surrealism photography was introduced with techniques such as double exposures, combination printing, montage, and solarization. Some of the pioneers of surrealism are Man Ray and Maurice Tabard. When surrealism started it was mainly in France and then later moved throughout the world. Surrealism influenced just about every concept of art. World War One had a great effect on surrealism and helped start the movement throughout. Surrealism is also considered a “dream-like” effect, bringing the unordinary into a concept of reality. Surrealism is a very creative way of art. Unlike normal everyday artwork where the artist finds something they like and creates an image just like it, surrealism allows the artist to create new concepts choosing and picking what he or she wants to use in the artwork. Most surrealistic artwork involves images inside other images. For example; one could take a picture of someone’s head and place it inside someone else’s mouth. Surrealism is very non-sequitur and abstract.
Surrealism is a very unique and different way to make artwork. It is a very creative way to express thoughts and emotions in an abstract way. Surrealism changed the art we have today by allowing us to think more outside the box and create such unfamiliar concepts.

-Texture-
Texture is the appearance, the feel or the consistency of an object or item. Although you can feel the texture of things, when texture is used in photography we only know the texture by looking at the picture. Texture has impacted art but adding a new dimension. Paintings can now be more interesting due to the use of paint and the texture it has. Texture draws more attention to an image. Texture is usually seen when shooting macro shots and getting extremely close to the subject. While getting close to an object, we see a different perspective than we usually do. Some things that used to be boring are now exciting.

Negative Space
Negative space is where the space around the subject is dull which brings more focus to the subject. Negative space is used in photography to emphasize the subject and bring a whole new effect to the picture. A lot of times in pictures the back ground is distracting. This technique helps to get rid of that factor. Silhouettes can be considered to use the effect of negative space. If the picture is inverted so that the black now turns white it becomes a more natural look. Negative space is also commonly known as “white space”. Negative space can be used to turn an ordinary photo into an amazing one. In a photo the subject is referred to as the “positive space”. Negative space adds more power to the subject. This effect has artistic value and is not only used in photography, but also used in painting, drawing, and sketches.

Silhouette
A silhouette is a person or object that is completely black so that only the outline and background is shown in the piece of art. Photographers mostly take pictures of silhouettes using the sun. Silhouettes were first being incorporated into art in the 19th Century. Photographers use silhouette portraits to keep the picture simple and focused on the subject. Silhouettes are greatly taken at the beach because the sun is in the perfect spot and the background is not too distracting. Silhouettes can only be taken when the camera is facing the sun and when the sun is out.

Cubism
Cubism was thought of in the early 20th century and is an art movement. Cubism was pioneered by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. Picasso was the first artist to create a cubism art piece. Cubism revolutionized and inspired European painting, sculpture, music, architecture, and literature. In cubism artworks, artists look and find parts of the object and paint them in an abstract order wherever they please. This gives a whole different effect to art that was never used before. Cubism can be used in photography by taking multiple pictures of one object from different angles and piecing them together in Photoshop.
